The
following notes indicate the structure of HSE First Aid training.
Full
(FAW) First Aid at Work Courses
From
October 1, 2009, the Full FAW Course has been reduced to 3 days of training
& assessment with some of the elements previously done within
classrooms, becoming home study.
Annual
1/2 day core skills REFRESHER
COURSE required.
The
mandatory 3 yearly REVALIDATION
COURSE
remains at 2
days duration.
New
1 day (EFAW) Emergency First Aid at Work Course
This
covers just the core skills & will be of 1 day duration.
Annual
1/2 day core skills REFRESHER
COURSE required.
The full
1 day course must be taken every 3 years.
Appointed
Person
The
content of this course has been reduced to: 'call
999, - issue a first aid kit, - record the events'. No
first aid is included in this course = it does not designate a person as a
First Aider.
We do not recommend nor train this ultra-basic course, as we feel it is too
low a level for any workplace.
