LATEST RELEASE FROM THE HSE .................

Correct @ June 26, 2008.

ALL CHANGE in 2009 !!!!

The changes below will come into force from October 2009.

Which course the client decides upon is based upon their Risk Assessment. Please call if you require any advice.

The existing ACOP (Approved Code of Practice) document will become void in September 2009, being replaced by an updated version in October 2009.

REFRESHER COURSES

These existing requirements will not change!

You may take a FAW Refresher Course as early as 3 months prior to the expiry of the existing certificate, and the Refresher completed no later than 28 days after expiry.  Your new certificate can run from the expiry date of your old certificate.

All certificates are valid for up to 3 years, but in the case of an 'overdue' certificate, workplace cover is deemed to be valid until the Refresher Course, provided evidence of a course booking is obtained.

Full (FAW) First Aid at Work Courses

From October 2009, the Full FAW Course will be reduced to 3 days of training & assessment with some of the elements previously done within classrooms, becoming home study.

The mandatory 3 yearly Refresher Course will remain at 2 days duration.

The HSE strongly recommend an annual 3 hour core skills refresher course.

** The current 4 day Full FAW Course remains in place until October 2009.

New 1 day (EFAW) Emergency First Aid at Work Course

To be available from October 2009.

This covers just the core skills & will be of 6 hours training.

The HSE strongly recommend an annual 3 hour core skills refresher course. The full course (6 hours) must be taken every 3 years.

Appointed Person

From October 2009, the requirement under this title is to be reduced, and will now be a person with the basic responsibility of maintaining the office first aid kit and calling for medical assistance when required. Any first aid training for this person will be purely optional!

** Until October  2009, this course will still be available, as being suitable for low risk operations / offices -- covering Life Saving Core Skills.
