ALL
CHANGE in 2009 !!!!
The
changes below will come into force from October 2009.
Which
course the client decides upon is based upon their Risk Assessment. Please
call if you require any advice.
The
existing ACOP (Approved Code of Practice) document will become void in
September 2009, being replaced by an updated version in October 2009.
REFRESHER
COURSES
These
existing requirements will not change!
You
may take a FAW Refresher Course as early as 3 months prior to the expiry
of the existing certificate, and the Refresher completed no later than 28
days after expiry. Your new certificate can run from
the expiry date of your old certificate.
All
certificates are valid for up to 3 years, but in the case of an 'overdue'
certificate, workplace cover is deemed to be valid until the Refresher
Course, provided evidence of a course booking is obtained.
Full
(FAW) First Aid at Work Courses
From
October 2009, the Full FAW Course will be reduced to 3 days of training
& assessment with some of the elements previously done within
classrooms, becoming home study.
The
mandatory 3 yearly Refresher Course will remain at 2
days duration.
The
HSE strongly recommend an annual 3 hour core skills refresher
course.
**
The current 4 day Full FAW Course remains in place until October 2009.
New
1 day (EFAW) Emergency First Aid at Work Course
To
be available from October 2009.
This
covers just the core skills & will be of 6 hours training.
The
HSE strongly recommend an annual 3 hour core skills refresher
course. The full course (6 hours) must be taken every 3 years.
Appointed
Person
From
October 2009, the
requirement under this title is to be reduced, and
will now be a person with the basic responsibility of maintaining the
office first aid kit and calling for medical assistance when required. Any
first aid training for this person will be purely optional!
**
Until October 2009, this course will still be available, as
being suitable for low risk operations / offices -- covering Life Saving
Core Skills.
