First Aid for Mountaineers
& Instructors
It is my most regular course - being
designed for Climbers, Walkers, Group
Leaders, Mountain Bikers, Duke of
Edinburgh Award etc. It is most
appropriate for people operating in the
UK or other similar areas where rescue
(if necessary) is accessible.
Recognised by ML, BMC, BASI, BCU,
SMLTB, D of E, etc. Used by many
Military Instructors.
Training is provided over 2 days (usually
consecutive and weekends).
Cost: £150 per person (Discounts for
groups).
Advanced Immediate Care
This level of training is usually
requested by the more experienced
participants / previously trained
Firstaiders.
Consideration is given to more
demanding situations - locations -
injuries - illnesses - where the Leader
may have to organise an evacuation.
Typically, the user will be a school or
college Group Leader taking their group
into, eg, the lower Arctic, tropics, south
American uplands, Alpine regions etc.
Recognised by ML, BMC, BASI, BCU,
SMLTB, D of E, etc. Used by many
Military Instructors.
Courses are tailored to the Leader /
participants’ requirements.
Training is provided over 2 days (usually
consecutive and weekends).
Cost: £150 per person (Discounts for
groups).
Expedition Medical Care
This third level is most appropriate to
persons going into the high mountains
and truely remote regions, such as Peru,
Himalayas etc.
Recognised by ML, BMC, Royal
Geographical Society, UK Military etc.
Training is provided over 2 days (usually
consecutive and weekends)
Cost: £150 per person (Discounts for
groups).
First Aid for Horse Riders
Usually provided as a single day of
training - for ride leaders, RDA
Volunteers and Riders / Managers of
Trekking Centres etc. Equally suitable
for Mountain Biking.
Fees: Day rate - dependent upon
location and numbers of participants.
Watersports First Aid
Single or 2 day courses are available.

All courses are based upon the Health & Safety Executive First Aid at Work syllabus - with an expansion to cover
Outdoor Activities and Remote Environment injuries & hazards.
These courses have evolved since initiation 35 years ago - and continue to evolve to meed changing needs.
Training is followed by an assessment. Certificates (for successful candidates) last for 3 years.
Training includes the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator),
“the Management of Catastrophic Bleeding” (Haemostatics - and where relevant, Tourniquets.
Courses are non-residential, although accommodation can be provided at some venues (additional cost).
Whatever your requirement, appropriate training can be supplied.
